Special finishes

We offer a wide range of special finishes to enhance your product.

We recommend laminating areas that have high areas of solid ink. This prevents the printed product from scuffing or marking and completely seals the product.

Laminating is very popular for the following products:

  • Brochure covers
  • Presentation folders
  • Note pad covers

Lamination finish is available in gloss, matt and soft touch.

If you want to draw attention to a particular element of your product then spot UV is perfect for this purpose. Spot UV is a type of varnish and is applied to certain areas of the artwork. The spot UV area appears much brighter and adds a sheen effect.

  • Use spot UV to add a special or decorative effect
  • Adds a premium finish
  • Not suitable for text or very detailed artwork elements

Perfect binding is suitable for brochures and magazines and is considered an enhanced binding method compared to saddle stitching. Products that are perfect bound are trimmed on all three sides and the bound edge is clean and free from metal staples.

We use PUR glue for perfect binding which is very strong and durable.

  • Perfect bound products have a square spine and are easy to stack
  • Suitable for medium to thick booklets and magazines
  • We require a minimum of 3mm spine width to perfect bind

Saddle stitching is basically stapled booklets. Saddle stitching is very popular and cost effective. This method of binding is suitable for booklets, magazines and programmes. It is a cheaper method than perfect binding but is limited to a certain thickness, generally around 80 pages depending upon the thickness of the paper.

  • Economical method of binding and quick to turn around
  • Great for newsletters and brochures
  • Suitable for low to large volumes

We can litho print using both pantone special inks and metallic inks. Metallic inks are available in a range of colours including gold, silver and fluorescent inks. Printing in metallic or fluorescent inks is restricted to litho printing and is not suitable for short run printing.

  • Wide range of metallic and fluorescent colours available
  • More cost effective than foiling
  • Allow additional lead time for drying
